Training like our ancestors and bringing back the old ways that were gone but not forgotten

Is there a test of strength more pure than putting the wind beneath a natural stone?

(The Mighty Fuse)

From I was no age, I have always been involved in sports. When I was 14, I joined HML Boxing club, and after a few years I made the move to Martial arts, Firstly Tae Kwon Do, and Kickboxing and Finally Taijutsu, Gaining multiple blackbelts along the way. In the midst of all this, training MMA and having numerous bouts inside the cage.
When I was about 33, I suffered a full MCL and ACL tear, which resulted in surgery and months of rehabilitation. This is where my Martial Arts journey unfortunately came to an end.
I started focusing more on my weight training, and the gym is where I would find myself 5 or 6 days a week, enjoying hitting PBs and seeing the results.
I train in RTF lurgan, it's an unbelievable gym with Powerlifting, Olympic lifting, Strongman/ woman training and one of the best conventional gyms about, this is where I spotted an ad asking newcomers to come give Strongman / woman a go, I talked my partner into it, and the rest is history. We have never looked back and enjoy pushing ourselves week in week out hitting PBs and getting advice and guidance by some of the best in the business Simon Truesdale and Stevie Shanks, not to mention our team itself which is filled with experience.

I thought I would be too small to try something like Strongman, but as long as you remember you are only ever really in competition with yourself, there are victories to be had at every training session and every competition..
It's about being better than yesterday, and that's my goal. So I thought things couldn't get any better until I competed in the Novice irish natural stone lifting games 2024 it was amazing wearing a kilt and lifting stones, every stone is different challenging and raw too i just loved it so much then out of the blue myself and my partner where asked to join the irish stone monsters WOW what an honour to apart of an amazing group of guys we are just one big happy family of strength .....
